Solutions for sustainability
Solutions for sustainability
With almost a decade in career services and a background in supporting diverse groups, unlocking who you are, what your company stands for, and showcasing those skills is critical to building the right teams.
All my projects and programs are centered around one important theme: purpose!
With experience in developing and executing strategies, I can create specific ways your company can adapt and remain competitive. Efforts include DEI, social impact, environmental sustainability, and environmental justice.
It's not just about a great plan on paper. It's what comes next that sets you apart. After seeing an increase in single-use plastic during covid, I created reusable coffee cup stoppers and launched an Etsy shop. 9 Million Tons isn't about creating more, it's about awareness, changing our habits, and demanding better support for our oceans, seas, and lakes.
My background and ideas can only give you suggestions and best practices.
What elevates my approach to sustainability is research. My consulting background focuses on researching stakeholders, conducting interviews, executing surveys, and evaluating the results.
The world is full of possibilities! Through student-led programs, I have developed international social impact programs to support impoverished areas. Using the United Nations 17 SGDs, my students have researched feasibility, wrote business plans, and increased community support. Students have presented their projects at the three Enactus national competitions, placing first in 2020.
Leading on sustainable solutions has to come from business, government, and individuals. To accelerate our chance at fixing climate change, our elected leaders have to do more. I've been on the front lines, creating and executing high impact events. These actions promote unity, demand accountability, and highlight how we are running out of time.
For half a decade, I have taught disabled adults soft skills as they reenter the workforce. Working with small groups has helped tailor specific recommendations for their career path, including leveraging their previous work ethic, setting new goals for themselves, and creating a plan to support growth.
95% of participants found meaningful employment after graduating from my program.
I saw a low engagement from students of color at my career events. With Colin Kaepernick as an alum of our college, I knew we had to do better. I founded and launched the Black Business Student Association, giving direct support to over 40 student members as they give back to their community, network, and create opportunities for other disenfranchised populations.
No one can move forward without being educated on the past. I hosted a series showcasing the black wealth gap, race and health, diversity in the workplace, and equitable communities. Hundreds of people attended the virtual events and I expanded on these topics at the Fall 2021 American Planning Association conference.
For almost ten years, I have presented climate science and solutions to unconventional groups. Trained under former Vice President, Al Gore and the Climate Reality Project, each presentation is tailored to enhance education, action, and support for the environment.
As a mentor through the Mandela Fellows program (YALI), I work with young African leaders on leadership, business development, operations, and professional development.
I also mentored the first virtual cohort of Climate Reality Leaders, helping the trainees craft their story and tailor their presentations.
I love being the boots on the ground!
Seeing projects, programs, and events executed as a team means quality is delivered at a high-capacity level. As a director, entrepreneur, professor, and consultant, I'm focused on environmental sustainability - all while contributing to a diverse and equitable culture as we work to solve the climate crisis.
Sustainability is always the goal with each project I create and manage. I've done so at the university for almost a decade and am now ready to take on the environment's most pressing challenges and support long term growth. Just click on the image above to watch my video.
Here I share more about my skills and how they can support climate change work and leadership. I feel especially comfortable navigating ambiguity, solving complex problems, and developing stakeholder relationships.
